Sex Blogging on Medium and Sex-Positive Facebook Groups

With Halloween around the corner, things are getting spooky here in New Orleans. Some days, the weather even threatens to cool off and finally give us a taste of fall.

Most days that’s just a tease, though.

This week, I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit on Facebook and finally hammered down a content plan on Medium. There are about to be a lot of sexy and informative articles comin’ atchya.

Here’s a rundown of what’s going on.

Sex-Positive Facebook Groups

I’ve avoided turning to Facebook for any kind of personal marketing because, let’s be honest, Facebook (and by extension, Instagram), is pretty sex negative. I’d hate to put in a bunch of work just for it all to get Zuck’d.

I’ve created Facebook pages for my creative and business writing in the past, and saw very little benefit to having them compared to using my personal profile. Yet, while I don’t mind being open on my profile about what I do, I don’t want to friend every potential client or collaborator there. All in all, I originally dismissed Facebook as a marketing space.

However, I did join a few advice and discussion groups and groups run by other coaches and professionals in my field. Here are some of the most active and helpful groups I’ve found:

  • Relationship Advice from Women to Women: As the name implies, this women-only group is a space where members can post requesting advice. The group is very active with multiple posts a day, most of which get a few dozen (if not hundreds of) comments.
  • A group where you anonymously ask for advice: Similar to the above group, but this one is open to all gender identities and has anonymous posting activated. It is also a very active group with lots of questions and responses, though the questions aren’t always relationship or sex related.
  • Emma Delightful Delights: Emma is a sweet Ann Summers rep and runs this very active Facebook group for sexy shoppers. She posts daily prompts and games as well as frequent raffles for hot products like lingerie. This is a great group if you’re shopping from England and Wales.
  • Bedroom Boss: Sex, Dating, and Relationship Advice for Women: This group is a “safe space for Women and Non Binary people to talk about sex, dating, and relationships.” Most posts get at least a response from professional sex coach Sara Starchild, who is based in New York. Starchild also posts challenges, product reviews, and giveaways.
  • It’s Playtime: I wanted to shout out this group because I joined it before I’d even started thinking about becoming a sex coach. It’s gotten a little quieter these days as the admin refocused her energy over the last couple years, but she recently promised the group that it would be back up and running again soon, so stay tuned!
  • Shelly O’Connell, Flirting Coach for Women: This one is a business page rather than a group, but one definitely worth adding! I chatted with Shelly after bumping into her in a coach’s group, and her coaching expertise definitely fits what many sex coaching clients are looking for: how to get to the bedroom in the first place.

Outside of Facebook, I’ve also been busy on Medium.

Sex Content Planning on Medium

Medium is another platform I’ve hesitated to post content on. While it hasn’t demonstrated overt sex negativity the way Facebook has, it always made me nervous that Medium could decide at any moment to remove all sex-related content.

I could cross-post everything from Medium here, and someday I might. For now, I’ll just be cross-posting it to Reddit and FetLife and include a summary of anything posted here in the weekly updates.

Some topics in the drafts include:

  • “They Can Only Get Off with Porn”: How to address porn dependency
  • Is Polyamory for You? Things to consider if you’re considering
  • Is It Wrong to Break Up Over Sex?
  • Finding Sexual Satisfaction While Single
  • How to Overcome Shame About Sex
  • How to Increase Someone’s Sex Drive
  • How Masturbating Can Make You a Better Partner

These are just a few of 30+ articles coming your way. Follow me on Medium to be notified as soon as they’re published, or just keep checking in here for the weekly rundown.
